BlackJack

Blackjack is a very popular casino game which is also called by some twenty-one, however there are different rules of play and options.

playing blackjack at event

Blackjack is a game that is so popular that every casino on the planet has at least one blackjack table available for their customers to play at.

This card game is where you play against the dealer not the other players, The Sting Casino Games uses six decks and a traditional card shoe to deal the cards for each hand of play. Single cards are dealt to each box that has a wager clockwise from the dealer’s left, followed by a single card to the dealer, followed by an additional card to each of the boxes in play. The players’ initial cards are dealt face up including the dealers first card.

Blackjack is paid at odds of 3 to 2 and can only be achieved when receiving a 10 value card and any ace within your first two cards. You can not obtain blackjack when splitting cards. We also pay for five cards under twenty-one as well as three sevens, this is usually at the discretion of the event organiser or the event being held.

The objective of the game is to beat the dealer in one of the following ways:

  • Total of 21 on a player’s first two cards (is called “blackjack”), without the dealer getting blackjack and you will be paid a total of 3 to 2, or one and a half times your original bet.
  • Have a better hand total than the dealer without exceeding 21; or
  • Let the dealer draw additional cards until his or her hand exceeds 21.
  • When a hand exceeds twenty-one or more that hand is considered a busted hand and the bet is taken and the cards are removed. The player will take no further part in the game if they bust.

Decisions Players May Make

After receiving their initial two cards to each box which contains a wager, the players then have four standard options: “hit”, “stand”, “double down”, or “split”.

  • Doubling Down: The player can increase their original bet by up to 100% in exchange for committing to stand after receiving exactly one more card. The additional bet is placed in the betting box next to the original bet. Some games do not permit the player to increase the bet by amounts other than 100%. Non-controlling players may double their wager or decline to do so, but they are bound by the controlling player’s decision to take only one card.
  • Splitting Cards: If the first two cards of a hand have the same face value, the player can split them into two hands, by moving a second bet equal to the first into an area outside the betting box. As an example you can split only when the cards have the identical ranks; for instance, a hand of 10-10 may be split, but not one of 10-Jack.When splitting the dealer separates the two cards and draws a card on each new hand. The player then plays out the two separate hands in turn; the hands are treated as independent new hands, with the player winning or losing their wager separately for each hand. Doubling and further splitting of post-split hands are considered as non-blackjack 21 when compared against the dealer’s hand.

Use Signal or Verbal Commands: You can verbally say to the dealer “HIT” if you would like to take a card or by saying “STAND” if you do not require a card on your hand. You can also “Wave Your Hand” for no cards or simply “Tap the Gaming Table” with your hand for any additional cards you may require.

Players may not handle the cards as all cards are dealt from a six deck show face-up on the layout.

Pontoon

Many think that blackjack is also called Pontoon but this is incorrect. The rules for buying cards in Pontoon include allowing the player to buy on any hand of 2 to 4 cards, allowing the player to twist after buying. Where in blackjack you do not have to buy cards but do have the option to do so with certain combinations of cards and only with the first two cards.
